The Animal Health Company
Care that keeps them sound.
Best sellers from The Animal Health Company - trusted daily care for skin, hooves and coats.
The Animal Health Company makes water-based liquid herbal supplements, grooming products and yard hygiene products for horses, ponies and dogs. It is the range people reach for when an older horse is looking stiff, a mare is unsettled in season, the yard air is dusty, or a stable needs a proper clean out. Of the 33 lines in this collection we currently have 18 in stock, starting at £6.04 for the 500ml Ozoil Tea Tree Spray E. Every product shown with a price on this page is in stock right now.
These are complementary feeding stuffs and grooming products, not medicines. They are there to support your horse alongside good management - they do not treat, cure or replace veterinary care. If your horse is lame, coughing, losing condition or unwell, speak to your vet first and let the supplement sit alongside their advice.

What is NoBute, and why is it the one everyone knows?
NoBute is the range the brand is best known for. It is a water-based liquid supplement built around the root of the devil's claw plant, a herb traditionally used in horse care to support comfortable movement and normal joint function. It is fed daily, mixed into the feed, and has a built-in measuring cup so you are not guessing at the dose. It is water-based and alcohol-free.
What is the difference between NoBute and NoBute Premium?
Premium is the more concentrated version of the same idea - a stronger herbal blend per millilitre, so a smaller daily dose goes further. Right now Animal Health Company Nobute Premium is the one we have in stock, at £17.44 for 1 Litre or £34.54 for 2.5 Litre. The standard NoBute moves in and out of stock, so get in touch if that is the one you want and our team will tell you when it is due back.
Which size is the better value?
Almost always the bigger bottle, if you will get through it. On Nobute Premium, 2.5 Litre at £34.54 works out roughly a fifth cheaper per litre than the 1 Litre at £17.44. The same holds for the Wheatgerm Oil Blend - 5 Litre at £35.91 against 2.5 Litre at £20.85. Just be realistic about shelf life and how long one horse takes to finish a five-litre bottle.
How do the liquid herbal supplements actually get fed?
All of the liquids in this range - Nobute Premium, Hormonise, No Wheeze, Tranquil E, Navilam, Cush-Aid, Immuboost - are added to the feed as a liquid rather than mixed in as a powder. Most horses take them without fuss, and fussy feeders tend not to notice a liquid in a damp feed.
How long before I see a difference?
Herbal supplements are not switches. Most people work on a few weeks of consistent daily feeding before judging whether something is helping, and the honest answer is that results vary a lot between horses. Feed at the recommended rate, change one thing at a time, and keep a note of how your horse is going so you have something to compare against.
What about the grooming and yard hygiene side?
The Grooms Choice shampoos are the show-prep end of the range - Super White Shampoo from £6.16, a concentrated pearlised shampoo with natural optical brighteners that brings out the many shades in a grey coat, and Super Red Shampoo at £6.16, a concentrated gel that enhances colour in chestnuts and bays.
The Ozoil line covers the day-to-day jobs: Ozoil Leg Wash (£10.72) for muddy legs, Ozoil Freshfrog (£8.15) for feet in a wet winter, Ozoil Tea Tree Lotion E (£13.30) and Ozoil Tea Tree Spray E (£6.04) for skin that needs some attention, and Ozoil Sheath Cleaner (£12.01) for a job nobody enjoys but everybody should do.
For the yard and the house, Odor-Kill (£11.15, 1 Litre) is a deodoriser aimed at ammonia and other strong smells in stables, kennels and bin areas, and Pet Bed Wash (from £11.15) is a laundry product for dog bedding that regular detergent does not quite deal with.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use NoBute Premium if I compete?
Not under FEI rules. The NoBute range is built around devil's claw, and the manufacturer states it must not be given to horses competing under FEI rules. Devil's claw is treated as a controlled or prohibited substance under other UK and international competition rulebooks too, and the rules differ between disciplines and change over time. Read the current rules of your own governing body, allow for the withdrawal periods they specify, and speak to your vet if you are competing under testing. If you would like a hand finding the product details, get in touch and our team will help.
Is Hormonise safe for a mare in foal?
No - Hormonise should not be fed to mares in foal. It is built around chaste berry and is aimed at mares who become unsettled or uncomfortable through their seasons, and at moderating behaviour in rigs. If your mare is in foal, might be in foal, or is on any veterinary medication, talk to your vet before starting any hormonal-support supplement.
Will these supplements treat my horse's condition?
No. Everything in this collection is a complementary feeding stuff or a grooming and hygiene product, not a veterinary medicine. They are designed to support normal function alongside sensible management - good forage, sensible workload, decent turnout and regular farrier and dental care. A horse that is lame, coughing persistently, losing weight or otherwise unwell needs a vet, not a supplement, and your vet should know about anything you are feeding.
Can I feed more than one of these at the same time?
Often yes, but check the ingredient lists first so you are not doubling up on the same herbs or vitamins from two directions, and count anything already in a balancer or hard feed. If your horse is on prescribed medication, or you are combining three or more supplements, run the list past your vet. Introducing one product at a time also makes it far easier to tell what is actually working.
What sizes do the liquids come in?
Most of the supplements come in 1 Litre and 2.5 Litre, with a 5 Litre on some lines. In stock today that means Nobute Premium in 1 Litre (£17.44) and 2.5 Litre (£34.54), Cush-Aid in 1 Litre (£15.73) and 2.5 Litre (£34.54), Navilam in 2.5 Litre (£33.34), and the Wheatgerm Oil Blend in 2.5 Litre (£20.85) and 5 Litre (£35.91). Grooming products are mostly 500ml, with Grooms Choice Super White Shampoo also available in a 1 Litre at £9.00.
Which product should I start with if I am new to the range?
Start with the single problem that is bothering you most rather than buying three at once. For a stiff older horse that is usually Nobute Premium from £17.44; for a mare who is hard work in season, Hormonise at £13.26; for a horse who coughs in a dusty barn, No Wheeze at £16.72. If you just want to try the brand cheaply, Ozoil Tea Tree Spray E is £6.04 for 500ml. Still undecided? Get in touch and our team will help you match a product to what your horse is actually doing.
