Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Bonner Bandage work without chemicals or medication?
The Bonner Bandage uses water and freezing rather than alcohol or any chemical agents. You soak it in water, squeeze out the excess, then freeze it for 20 minutes. It delivers cold compression without medication, making it a non-medicated treatment option.
How long does the cold effect last once the bandage is applied?
A 15-minute treatment session provides penetrating residual cold for up to 30 minutes after the bandage has been removed, extending the therapeutic effect beyond the application period.
Is there a risk of ice burn with the Bonner Bandage?
According to the product description, there is no risk of ice burn. The towelling side is placed towards the skin, and the bandage operates at a lower temperature than alcohol-based ice bandages while still keeping colder for longer.
Can the Bonner Bandage be used on both horses and humans?
Yes. The Bonner Bandage is described as suitable for both equines and humans, and the tags confirm it is marketed as a bandage for horses and for humans.
Can the Bonner Bandage be used as a preventative measure rather than just for injury treatment?
Yes. The product description states it can be used as a preventative aid for competition horses, not solely as a treatment for existing injuries.
How quickly does the Bonner Bandage freeze, and can it be reused?
The bandage freezes in approximately 10 minutes (the directions specify 20 minutes for a full freeze before use). It is safe for repeated applications and is sold as a reusable cold bandage.
