Description
The uvex exxential II MIPS sets new benchmarks in terms of lightness, comfort for the rider and safety. For the first time ever, the sporty all-rounder uses the height-adjustable Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS), which provides additional protection against rotational forces in the event of a side or oblique impact. Enjoy the ultimate in safety: the uvex exxential II MIPS combines the lightweight characteristics of an inmould helmet with the tried and tested Multi-Directional Impact Protection System. The idea behind MIPS, which was developed in Sweden, is to protect the human brain against rotational movements in an accident. To achieve this, a movable second shell is fitted inside the uvex exxential II MIPS between the inner padding and outer shell of the helmet. It sits directly on the head and can be adjusted to obtain the optimum setting for height and width. Added protection: if the rider lands at an angle in a fall, the rotational force created is not transferred to the head, but instead dissipated by the motion of the MIPS inner shell. What's more, the ergonomic helmet design with its low-cut helmet shell guarantees extra impact protection at the rear. One really smart feature is the ponytail cut-out, which makes the helmet considerably more comfortable for riders with long hair.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MIPS system in the uvex exxential II MIPS, and how does it work?
MIPS stands for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, developed in Sweden. Inside the helmet, a movable second shell sits between the inner padding and the outer shell, resting directly on the head. In the event of a side or oblique impact, this inner shell moves independently to dissipate rotational forces rather than transferring them to the head and brain.
Is the MIPS layer in this helmet adjustable?
Yes. The MIPS inner shell in the uvex exxential II MIPS is height-adjustable, and can also be adjusted for width, allowing the rider to dial in an optimum fit. This is described as the first time Uvex has used a height-adjustable MIPS system.
Does the uvex exxential II MIPS have any features specifically for riders with long hair?
Yes. The helmet includes a ponytail cut-out, which is designed to make wearing the helmet more comfortable for riders with long hair.
What type of construction does the uvex exxential II MIPS use?
The helmet uses an inmould construction, which contributes to its lightweight characteristics. It also features a low-cut helmet shell at the rear for additional impact protection in that area.
