Description

The Lorina Loose Ring Jointed Fulmer is a fulmer-style snaffle bit combining loose rings outside the cheeks with full-length fulmer cheekpieces. Available in four sizes from 4.5 inch (114mm) to 6 inch (152mm).

  • Fulmer jointed snaffle similar to the full cheek, but with loose rings outside the cheeks to retain the communication found with a loose ring bit
  • The fulmer cheek prevents the bit from being dragged through the horse's mouth
  • Jointed mouthpiece acts like a nutcracker on the bars, and will often contact with the horse's palate
  • Fulmer cheek bits are often used on young horses to aid steering, as the cheek gives a more positive action against the cheek when the rider asks for a turn

Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes does the Lorina Loose Ring Jointed Fulmer come in?
It is available in four sizes: 4.5 Inch (114mm), 5 Inch (127mm), 5.5 Inch (140mm), and 6 Inch (152mm).
How does the Lorina Loose Ring Jointed Fulmer differ from a standard full cheek snaffle?
Unlike a standard full cheek, the Lorina Loose Ring Jointed Fulmer has loose rings outside the cheekpieces. This retains the communication associated with a loose ring bit while still benefiting from the fulmer cheek's ability to prevent the bit being dragged through the horse's mouth.
Why is the Fulmer cheek design particularly suited to young horses?
The fulmer cheekpieces give a more positive action against the side of the horse's face when the rider asks for a turn, which can help aid steering - making this style of bit commonly chosen for young horses in early training.
What action does the jointed mouthpiece have?
The jointed mouthpiece acts like a nutcracker on the bars of the horse's mouth and will often make contact with the horse's palate.
