What sizes does the Sprenger HS French Weymouth come in?
The Sprenger HS French Weymouth is available in three sizes: 125mm, 135mm, and 145mm.
What is the mouthpiece material and thickness on this Weymouth?
The mouthpiece is made from Sensogan and measures 14mm in thickness.
Why is this bit described as suitable for horses with a small oral cavity?
The straight bar with slight port design means there is no contact with the sensitive palate, and the slightly curved shape transmits steady, even pressure across the tongue-width and lower jaw bone - making it well suited to horses with a smaller oral cavity.
How should the size be chosen relative to the underlay when fitting this Weymouth?
Because the horse's mouth is narrower where the bit sits, the Weymouth cheek piece should typically be chosen 1/2 to 1 cm smaller than the underlay size.
How should the chin chain be adjusted on the Sprenger HS French Weymouth?
The chin chain should be adjusted so that the shank can be brought to an angle of approximately 45°.
