LeMieux Vectorflex Stirrups - Lightweight Open-Sided Safety Irons

The LeMieux Vectorflex Stirrup is a 390g open-sided safety stirrup made from glass-reinforced nylon polymer with a stainless steel insert. It is designed for riders who want a light, strong iron with a non-slip tread and a flexible outer arm that reduces the risk of foot entrapment.

Best for everyday schooling, hacking and jumping where a secure foot position matters, these irons suit riders moving away from heavier traditional stainless steel stirrups. You can see the wider range in our stirrups collection.

How to Use

  1. Check the flexible rubber arm is screwed fully home and secure before fitting.
  2. Thread each stirrup leather through the angled hang loop so the loop sits at 90 degrees, presenting the iron to your foot.
  3. Hang the leathers on your saddle bars and run the irons up until you mount.
  4. Place the ball of your foot on the non-slip tread with the open side facing outwards.
  5. Ride with roughly 1cm clearance either side of your boot so the foot can release freely.
  6. Inspect the rubber arm regularly and replace it if it shows wear, splitting or damage.

FAQ

What size stirrup should I choose?
Measure the widest part of your riding boot and allow about 1cm clearance either side. Too narrow and the boot can jam, too wide and the foot can slide through. Adult riders commonly take a 4.75in tread, with juniors in smaller sizes.

How heavy are LeMieux Vectorflex Stirrups?
Each stirrup weighs 390g, which is noticeably lighter than many traditional solid stainless steel irons while still offering impressive tensile strength.

What are they made from?
The body is glass-reinforced nylon polymer with a stainless steel insert. This gives strength plus anti-corrosive properties for longevity. The outer arm is a flexible screw-on rubber component.

Are they safety stirrups?
They use an open-sided design with a flexible outer arm, which reduces the risk of foot entrapment compared with a closed traditional iron. Always ride in a boot with a defined heel and check your stirrup fit.

Can the rubber arm be replaced?
Yes. The custom flexible rubber arm screws on and is replaceable, so the stirrup can stay in service if the arm becomes worn or damaged.

Do they grip in wet weather?
The in-moulded non-slip tread is designed to give secure foot grip in all weather conditions, including wet surfaces and muddy hacking.
