Overreach Boot FAQs
What is an overreach?
It is when a hind foot catches the back of a front foot, usually at speed or over a jump. The strike can cut the heel bulbs or pull off a shoe, which is what these boots help prevent.
What size overreach boots do I need?
The boot should cover the heel bulbs without dragging on the ground or sitting tight around the pastern. Sizes vary by brand, so use the size notes on the product page.
Can a horse wear overreach boots in the field?
Some owners use them for turnout, but check every day for rubbing, and take them off if the skin gets sore. Follow your vet's or farrier's advice for a horse that often overreaches.
