A stable guard clips across an open stable door, so your horse gets more air and can see out with the door open. We stock webbing and padded guards, plus stall guards and fixing plates, from LeMieux, Premier Equine, Rhinegold, Hy Equestrian and KM Elite.

Before You Buy

  • Fixing points: both sides of the doorway need a secure, load-bearing fixing point.
  • Padded or webbing: padded guards are softer if a horse leans on them, and webbing is light and easy to pack for shows.
  • Your horse: don't rely on a guard for a horse that pushes through or tries to jump out.

Stable Guard FAQs

What is a stable guard for?

It lets you leave the stable door open for air and a view while your horse stays in. Many owners use one at shows too, for temporary stabling.

How do you fit a stable guard?

It clips to a fixing point on each side of the doorway, at about chest height. Check both points are secure and load-bearing first. Some doorways need fixing plates, which we also stock.

Is a stable guard safe for every horse?

No. A guard is not as strong as a shut door, so don't rely on one for a horse that pushes through or tries to jump out, and don't leave a new guard unchecked until you know how your horse behaves with it.
