What makes a good everyday headcollar?
Three things do most of the work: fit, fittings and finish. A headcollar that sits correctly will not rub behind the ears or drag down onto the soft part of the nose. How should a headcollar fit?
You should be able to slide two fingers flat between the noseband and your horse's face. The headpiece should sit just behind the ears without pinching, and the throat area should be loose enough that the horse can chew and swallow freely but not so loose that a hoof or a gate latch could catch it.
