The LeMieux MIMsafe XC Boot Front is a cross country jumping boot for a horse's front legs, developed in collaboration with MIMsafe, the creators of the FEI's MIMclip. It is best for eventers and riders schooling over solid fences who want 360 degree lower leg protection with a low-profile, anatomic fit.
The boot combines a one-piece TPU outer shell with polythermal resin strike guards over the tendon and cannon bone, a ventilated high-density foam lining and a V-cut front profile that reduces friction and drag if the horse makes contact with a fence.

How to Use
- Measure the cannon bone of the front leg and check it against the LeMieux size chart before choosing your size.
- Brush the leg clean and dry so no grit is trapped under the lining.
- Position the boot so the strike guard sits centrally over the tendon and cannon bone, below the knee and clear of the fetlock joint.
- Fasten the three straps from the top down, firmly enough that the boot cannot rotate but without restricting circulation.
- Check the fit by walking the horse a few strides before mounting, and re-check straps after warming up.
- Rinse, wipe clean and air dry away from direct heat after every use.
FAQ
Are these boots for the front or hind legs? This is the front boot, shaped for the front legs with strike guards contoured over the tendon and cannon bone. Hind boots are a separate shape.
What size do I need for a cob or a warmblood? Sizing follows the LeMieux size chart rather than a general horse type, so measure the cannon bone of the front leg and compare it to the chart. A boot that is too short or too long will not sit the strike guard correctly over the tendon, which is the most common reason boots are returned.
Will they hold water in wet going? The high-density foam lining has a resistant coating to limit water uptake, so the boots are designed to stay lighter through water complexes and wet ground than untreated foam.
Do they get hot on a long course? Surface air vents are built into the shell to release heat build-up inside the boot for thermal control. Remove the boots as soon as you finish and rinse the legs.
How do I clean them? Rinse off mud and sweat, wipe the TPU shell and lining with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry naturally away from radiators or direct sunlight.
When should the boots be replaced? Inspect the shell, strike guards and straps regularly and replace the boots if the shell is cracked or split, or if the fastenings no longer hold securely.
