What does Collegiate make?

Collegiate specialises in leatherwork and tack: snaffle bridles, nosebands, reins, girths, breastplates, martingales, browbands and leather-care products. The range is built around a few clear families, so you can pick the level of padding, the material and the crownpiece design that suits your horse.

Which Collegiate range is right for me?

The main difference between the ranges is the material and how the headpiece is built. Use the table below as a starting point, then choose on fit and your horse's comfort.

Range Material Best for
ComFiTec Opulux Premium padded leather Showing and everyday schooling where you want a plush, finished look
ComFiTec Padded leather General-purpose bridlework and reliable value
Syntovia+ Easy-care synthetic leather Low maintenance, wet weather and busy yards
Mono Crown Single-piece crownpiece Designed to spread pressure across the poll
Anatomic / Memory Foam girths Shaped, cushioned Horses that are sensitive through the girth area

How do I choose a size?

Bridles come in sizes such as pony, cob, full and warmblood, and girths are measured in inches. If you are between sizes or fitting a sensitive horse, it is worth measuring an existing item that fits well and, for nosebands and bits, checking the fit with a qualified saddle fitter or instructor. A noseband should sit two fingers below the cheekbone and allow room for the horse to relax its jaw — never fit it tight to control the horse.

Caring for your Collegiate leather

Real leather lasts longest when it is cleaned and fed regularly. Wipe down after each ride, then use a leather soap and a conditioning cream to keep the leather supple. Collegiate Saddle Soap and Collegiate Leather Cream are both stocked here. Synthetic Syntovia+ items simply need a wipe with a damp cloth.

Collegiate FAQs

How much do Collegiate products cost?

In-stock Collegiate items in this collection currently range from about £7.19 for leather-care and small accessories up to around £107.99 for the padded Mono Crown bridles. Most padded bridles sit between £45 and £99.

What is the difference between the ComFiTec and Syntovia+ ranges?

ComFiTec and ComFiTec Opulux are padded real-leather ranges, while Syntovia+ is an easy-care synthetic leather. Choose ComFiTec for a traditional leather feel, or Syntovia+ if you want low maintenance and better performance in wet conditions.

What is a Mono Crown bridle?

A Mono Crown headpiece is made in a single shaped piece rather than several straps meeting at the poll. It is designed to spread pressure more evenly behind the ears, which some horses find more comfortable.

How do I fit a Collegiate noseband correctly?

As a guide, a cavesson noseband should sit roughly two fingers below the cheekbone and be loose enough to slide two fingers underneath. Fit for comfort, not control, and if you are unsure ask a qualified instructor or saddle fitter to check it.

Do you offer free UK delivery on Collegiate orders?

How do I care for Collegiate leather?

Wipe leather down after riding, clean it with saddle soap and condition it with a leather cream to keep it supple. Synthetic Syntovia+ items only need a wipe with a damp cloth.
