What does Horseware make?

Horseware started with a single problem: turnout rugs that leaked, slipped or made horses sweat. The brand's answer — the original Rambo turnout — helped set the modern standard for waterproof, breathable rugs, and the range has grown from there. Today the Horseware line-up spans turnout and stable rugs, fleeces and coolers, fly protection, anatomical Micklem bridles and tack, and a growing therapy category (Ionic ceramic, Ice-Vibe and LED red-light products). It is a broad brand, so the trick is matching the range to the job.

Which Horseware range is right for me?

Each Horseware sub-range is built for a slightly different rider and horse. Here is a quick chooser based on what we stock in this collection.

Range Best for From (in stock)
Amigo Reliable everyday turnouts, fly sheets and stable sheets at accessible prices £16.95
Rambo Premium, heavy-duty durability and technical coolers £42.95
Newmarket Heritage-style coolers and cosy stable rugs £77.95
Micklem Anatomical bridles, girths and leatherwork — fit with a professional £129.95
Ionic ceramic therapy Everyday recovery and circulation support rugs, masks and wraps £34.95
Ice-Vibe & LED therapy Active cold and red-light leg therapy tech £25.95

How do I choose the right rug size and weight?

Start with your horse, not the label. Measure from the centre of the chest to the point of the tail to find your rug size, then pick a weight (fill in grams) to match the weather and whether your horse is clipped. As a rough guide: 0g for mild days or as a rain layer, around 100–150g for cooler spells, and 200g+ for cold winter nights or clipped horses. If your horse tends to rub at the shoulder or wither, look for the V-Front and wug-cut options within the Amigo and Rambo ranges.

Is Horseware therapy kit a substitute for the vet?

No. Ionic ceramic, Ice-Vibe and LED red-light products are designed to support comfort, warmth and circulation as part of a normal management routine — they are not a treatment for injury or illness. If your horse is lame, sore or unwell, speak to your vet first and use any therapy product alongside professional advice, not instead of it.

Care, sizing and related collections

Wash Horseware rugs on a cool, gentle cycle with a technical rug wash rather than standard detergent, and re-proof the outer when water stops beading to keep the waterproofing working. Horseware FAQs

Is Horseware a good brand?

Horseware is widely regarded as a trusted equestrian brand. Founded in Ireland in 1985, it built its reputation on the original Rambo turnout rug and now sells internationally. Its rugs, coolers, Micklem tack and therapy kit are popular with everyday riders and competitors alike.

What is the difference between Amigo, Rambo and Rhino?

They are tiered ranges within Horseware. Amigo is the accessible everyday line, Rhino sits in the middle with a tougher build, and Rambo is the premium, most heavy-duty option. Higher tiers generally use stronger outer fabrics and more technical construction, which is reflected in the price.

How do I choose the right rug weight?

Match the fill weight to the weather and your horse. Use 0g for mild days or as a rain layer, roughly 100–150g for cooler weather, and 200g or more for cold nights or clipped horses. Combining a lighter turnout with an under-rug liner is a flexible way to adjust as temperatures change.

What is a Micklem bridle and does it need special fitting?

The Micklem is an anatomically shaped bridle designed to sit clear of sensitive facial nerves and teeth. Because fit is central to how it works, it is best set up with help from a saddler, trainer or knowledgeable retailer, and checked regularly as with any bridle.

Does Horseware therapy kit replace veterinary care?

No. Ionic ceramic, Ice-Vibe and LED red-light products are designed to support everyday comfort and circulation, not to diagnose or treat injury or illness. Always consult your vet about any lameness or health concern and use therapy products alongside their advice.

How much does Horseware cost at Just Horse Riders?

In this collection, in-stock Horseware prices currently run from around £9.95 for accessories up to £555.95 for LED red-light therapy sets. Everyday turnout rugs start from about £68.95, and free UK delivery applies on orders over £50.
