How To Choose

  • Size: start from their shoe size, then check that boot's chart. Sizes differ between brands.
  • Height and calf: some boots come in different heights and calf widths, so measure the leg as well as the foot.
  • Leather or synthetic: synthetic is easy to wipe clean and often costs less, while leather moulds to the leg.

When should a child move to long riding boots?

There is no set age. Many children ride happily in jodhpur boots for years, and move up when they start competing or want the extra leg contact.

Should I buy long boots with room to grow?

A little room in the foot is fine, but a boot that is too big can slip and rub. Long boots also need to fit the calf and leg height, so measure the leg before you order.

Are synthetic long boots any good for kids?

Yes. Synthetic boots are light, easy to wipe clean and often cost less, which suits a child who is still growing. Leather moulds to the leg over time.
