Mackey Martingale and Rein Stops are small stoppers that thread onto your reins to stop the rings of a running martingale sliding forward towards the bit. They are for any rider using a running martingale for schooling, hacking, jumping or general flatwork, on pony, cob, horse or warmblood bridles.
Supplied pre-packed and ready to fit, they are one of the cheapest and most useful items in the tack box - and one of the easiest to lose, so a spare set is always worth having.

How to Use
- Unfasten the rein from the bit ring on one side.
- Slide one stop onto the rein, pushing it down towards the bit end.
- Thread the martingale ring onto the rein below the stop, then refasten the rein to the bit.
- Repeat on the opposite rein so both sides match.
- Check the stops sit above the martingale rings and cannot slide off, then check them again as part of every pre-ride tack check.

Do I need rein stops with a running martingale?
Yes. A running martingale should always be used with rein stops so the rings cannot travel down to the bit. Bib and standing martingales do not attach to the reins, so they do not need them.
Will these fit my reins?
They are designed for standard rein widths used on pony, cob, horse and warmblood bridles. Very wide or heavily padded reins may be a tighter fit.
