How to Use

  1. Measure a short girth that already fits your horse, hole to hole, and match that length.
  2. Place the girth with the faux fur lining against the horse and the contoured cut-away facing the elbows.
  3. Fasten loosely to the billets on both sides, keeping the buckles level.
  4. Tighten gradually in stages, checking you can slide a flat hand between the girth and the horse.
  5. Walk the horse forward and stretch each foreleg to release any trapped skin, then re-check the tension before mounting.
  6. After riding, brush off hair and mud and wipe the lining clean.

FAQ

What size dressage girth do I need?
Short dressage girths are measured from buckle hole to buckle hole. The most reliable method is to measure a short girth that currently fits your horse well and order the same length, rather than estimating from rug or saddle size.

Is this girth suitable for horses that get girth rubs?
Yes. The soft faux fur lining is designed for horses with sensitive skin or horses that are prone to rubs and sores, as it sits softly against the skin in the girth area.

Will it restrict my horse's shoulder?
No. The girth is anatomically shaped around the horse's elbow so that it does not restrict movement of the shoulder.

Can I attach training aids to it?
Yes. The girth features a stainless steel ring for training aids, along with sturdy stainless steel roller buckles.

Does the elastic stop me over-tightening?
The elastic at both ends of the girth helps prevent over-tightening and allows even give on each side. Always check tension by hand and adjust gradually.

How do I clean it?
The girth is easy to clean. Brush off dried mud and hair, wipe the lining and outer with a damp cloth, and allow it to dry naturally away from direct heat.
