Premier Equine long boots are tall riding boots that finish just below the knee, and this collection holds 19 listings: leather field boots, leather dressage boots, lighter synthetic tall boots, a junior pair and spare laces. In-stock prices start at £70.20 for the junior synthetic Anima and £72.00 for the adult Anima, and run up to £240.00 for the leather Vedetta. Most models are offered in both regular and wide calf fittings, so the calf measurement matters more than your shoe size.

What is a long boot, and do you need one?

A long boot is a single tall boot that covers the foot, ankle and calf in one piece, instead of a short jodhpur boot worn with half chaps. It gives a smooth, continuous contact down the leg and the tidy outline judges expect in the ring. If you ride mostly in lessons and around the yard, Premier Equine jodhpur boots are the easier everyday choice; if you compete, school seriously or simply prefer the feel of a full-length boot, a long boot is worth the outlay.

Leather or synthetic long boots?

Both are represented here, and the honest answer is that it depends on budget and how much care you want to do.

Leather Synthetic
In this collection Vallardi, Cedo, Courbette, Ballotade, Maurizia, Astra Lace, Modus, Levade, Vedetta, Botero, Silentio Anima Ladies, Anima Junior, Altura
From £144.00 £70.20
Care Needs cleaning and conditioning Wipe clean
Break-in Softens and moulds to your leg over time Comfortable from the first ride
Best for Competition turnout and long-term wear Value, growing riders, low-fuss everyday use

If this is your first tall boot and you are not yet sure how often you will use it, a synthetic pair such as the Anima at £72.00 lets you find out without a large outlay. If you are already competing regularly, leather repays the extra spend.

How do you measure for long riding boots?

Three numbers decide the fit, and calf width is the one riders most often guess at. Wearing the breeches and socks you actually ride in, and sitting with your knee bent, measure: the widest part of your calf; the height from the floor to the crease behind your knee; and your usual UK shoe size. Then check those against the size guide on the product page before ordering. Because several models here are listed in both Regular and Wide calf fittings — the Anima Ladies, Altura, Vallardi, Botero, Maurizia, Cedo, Courbette, Ballotade, Astra Lace, Modus, Levade and Vedetta all show wide options — a fuller calf does not have to mean a compromise. If you are between fittings, get in touch and our team will help you work it out.

Which Premier Equine long boots suit dressage?

Dressage riders usually want a stiffer, straighter-cut boot with a plain front. In this collection that means the Levade Ladies Leather Dressage Riding Boot, from £216.00 in grey or black, and the Modus Womens Leather Dress Tall Riding Boots, from £190.00 in black. Field boots with a laced or flexed ankle, such as the Maurizia or Vallardi, are aimed more at jumping riders who want ankle movement.

Are there men's and junior long boots?

Yes. Men's riders are covered by the Botero Mens Tall Leather Field Boot and the Silentio Mens Tall Leather Field Boot, both from £153.00 and both listed in UK 6–11, with the Botero also available in a wide calf fitting. For younger riders, the Anima Junior Synthetic Field Tall Riding Boot runs from £70.20 in UK 12–3 — see also the wider Premier Equine junior boots range.

How do you look after long boots?

Let leather boots dry naturally away from direct heat, brush off mud before it sets, and condition them regularly so the leather stays supple where it flexes at the ankle. Store them upright with boot trees or shapers so the calf does not crease. Laces are the first thing to wear out on a lace-front boot, and they are replaceable rather than a reason to retire the pair: Spare Laces for Maurizia Ladies Lace Front Riding Boots are from £3.60 in brown, black, navy and cognac, and general Spare Riding Boot Laces are from £2.00.

Frequently asked questions

What size Premier Equine long boots should I order?

Order by three measurements rather than shoe size alone: your UK shoe size, the widest part of your calf, and the height from the floor to the crease behind your knee. Take the calf and height measurements over the breeches and socks you ride in, with your knee bent, then compare them with the size guide on the product page. Ladies' styles here are listed in UK 4–8 with some half sizes, men's in UK 6–11 and the junior Anima in UK 12–3.

Do Premier Equine long boots come in a wide calf fitting?

Many of them do. The Anima Ladies, Altura, Vallardi, Maurizia, Cedo, Courbette, Ballotade, Astra Lace, Modus, Levade, Vedetta and the men's Botero are all listed with Regular and Wide calf options alongside each size. If your calf measurement sits close to the top of the regular range, the wide fitting is usually the more comfortable choice, especially over winter breeches.

What is the difference between a field boot and a dressage boot?

A field boot is built with more give around the ankle — often with a laced front, like the Maurizia or Astra Lace — so the rider can shorten their stirrups for jumping. A dressage boot, such as the Levade or the Modus dress boot, has a plainer, stiffer, straighter cut that supports a longer leg position and gives the sleeker look wanted in the dressage arena. Either can be ridden in day to day; the difference matters most in the ring.

Are synthetic long boots good enough, or should I buy leather?

Synthetic tall boots such as the Anima from £72.00 and the Altura from £100.00 are comfortable straight away, wipe clean and cost far less, which makes them a sensible first tall boot or a spare pair for wet, muddy days. Leather boots from £144.00 mould to your leg over time and look smarter for competition. Plenty of riders end up owning one of each.

How much do Premier Equine long boots cost?

In this collection, in-stock pairs start at £70.20 for the junior Anima and £72.00 for the adult Anima synthetic field boot. Leather styles begin at £144.00 for the Vallardi, with men's Botero and Silentio field boots at £153.00, and the range tops out at £240.00 for the Vedetta. Spare laces are from £2.00. Prices and availability change, so check the product page for the current figure.

What happens if my long boots do not fit?

You have 90 days to return them, so there is time to try them on properly at home over your riding breeches before deciding. If you are stuck between two sizes or two calf fittings, get in touch before you order and our team will help you compare your measurements against the specific model.
