How to Use

  1. Measure around your pony's pastern and compare with the size guide before choosing a size.
  2. Brush the lower leg clean and dry so no grit is trapped under the boot.
  3. Slide the boot over the hoof so the faux fur edging sits around the pastern and the bell of the boot covers the heel.
  4. Fasten the touch tape strap snugly - you should be able to slip a finger between the boot and the pastern.
  5. Check the boot is not dragging on the ground at the front, then repeat on the other leg.
  6. Remove after work, brush off mud and allow to dry naturally away from direct heat.

FAQ

What do over reach boots do?
Over reach boots, also called bell boots, cover the heel and coronet band of the front hooves. They help protect against knocks, scrapes and injuries caused when a hind foot strikes a front heel.

What size over reach boots does my pony need?
Measure around the pastern and compare with the size guide. The boot should cover the heel without dragging along the ground. If your pony is between sizes, the larger size is usually more comfortable but can be trodden on, so check movement at walk before working in them.

Will these boots rub my pony?
The super soft faux fur edging is designed to help prevent rubbing. To reduce the risk further, fit the boots on clean, dry legs, avoid over-tightening and check the pasterns after the first few wears.

Can they be used for turnout as well as riding?
Yes, over reach boots are commonly used for schooling, hacking, lunging and turnout. Remove and check the legs daily and do not leave them on for long periods when wet or muddy.

How do I clean them?
Brush off dried mud, wipe the outer with a damp cloth and dry naturally away from direct heat. Keep the touch tape free of hair and bedding so it grips securely.

Are they sold as a pair?
Yes, the Serena Over Reach Boots are supplied as one pair.
