LeMieux Travel Boots - Lightweight Ballistic Nylon Leg Protection for Travelling

LeMieux Travel Boots are padded horse travel boots designed to protect the legs from knocks, treads and abrasions during transport in a lorry or trailer. They are best for owners travelling to shows, clinics, lessons or the vet who want breathable, cooling protection rather than heavy traditional travel boots.

The ballistic nylon outer resists abrasions and knocks, while a carbon nanofibre lining controls heat and sweat build-up. The carbon cooling inner lining has a wicking action similar to the Carbon Cooler Rug, so legs stay more comfortable on longer journeys.

How to Use

  1. Measure your horse from just below the knee to the ground and choose the size that matches, rather than guessing by breed or height alone.
  2. Brush the legs clean and dry before fitting so grit is not trapped against the skin.
  3. Position the boot so the top sits above the knee or hock and the base covers the coronet band without pressing on it.
  4. Fasten the quilted hook and loop straps from the top down, firm enough to hold but never tight.
  5. Walk the horse a few steps and re-check the straps before loading.
  6. Remove after travelling, brush off dried mud and allow the boots to dry naturally away from direct heat.

FAQ

What are LeMieux Travel Boots made from?

The outer is strong ballistic nylon, which resists abrasions and knocks. Inside there is a carbon nanofibre lining with a carbon cooling inner, and the heels are reinforced with robust PU leather heel guards.

Do travel boots make horses' legs hot?

Heat build-up is the usual complaint with heavily padded travel boots. These are designed to be lightweight and breathable, with a carbon nanofibre lining that controls heat and sweat build-up and a wicking inner similar to the Carbon Cooler Rug.

What size travel boots do I need?

Measure from just below the knee to the floor and match that measurement to the size chart, as pony, cob and full cuts vary. Boots that are too short leave the coronet exposed and boots that are too long can be trodden on, so measuring is more reliable than sizing by breed.

How should travel boots fit?

The top of the boot should cover the knee or hock, and the base should cover the coronet band without pressing into it. Straps should be snug enough that the boot cannot rotate or slip, but you should still be able to slide fingers underneath.

Can these be used for turnout or ridden work?

No. They are travel boots, intended for use during transport and short handled movements such as loading and unloading, not for turnout, schooling or ridden work.

How do I clean them?

Brush off dried mud, close all hook and loop straps before washing so they do not collect hair and debris, and dry the boots naturally away from direct heat.
