FAQ
What does the bungee lanyard actually do?
It is the part that activates the gas canister. Once it is pulled out of the trigger system the canister inflates the airbag, keeping you protected while riding and jumping.
Will it fit my air jacket?
It is compatible only with triggers released from 2012 onwards. Check the age of your trigger before ordering.
How long is the lanyard?
It is the standard length supplied with the vests, measuring 50cm at full stretch.
How often should the lanyard be replaced?
Replace it every two years depending on how long and how often you ride, not just on how many inflations it has had. Check it regularly for wear and tear and replace it after any impact or visible damage.
Is it difficult to fit?
No. An instruction manual is supplied covering fitting and operation. Follow it step by step, and have your air jacket and body protector fitted and checked by a BETA-trained fitter.
Should I keep a spare?
Many riders do. A spare lanyard in the lorry or tack room means a worn or damaged cord will not stop you riding or competing.
