Description
V-Plast Bit Guards are flexible TPE discs that sit between the bit ring and the horse's lip to protect against pinching and rubbing. They are best for horses and ponies working in loose ring bits, for sensitive mouths, and for taking up a little space when a bit is slightly too wide.
Each pair is supplied in one of two sizes - Pony (V99, 70 mm) or Full (V100, 90 mm) - in five colours, so they can be matched to your bridle for schooling, hacking or competition.

How to Use
- Choose your size: Pony 70 mm for ponies and smaller bit rings, Full 90 mm for cobs, horses and larger rings.
- Unbuckle the bit from one cheekpiece of the bridle.
- Stretch the guard over the bit ring so the disc lies flat, then repeat on the other side.
- Re-attach the bit to the cheekpieces and check the bit sits level in the mouth.
- Check the corners of the lips are not creased or pinched between the guard and the ring before mounting.
- Rinse and dry after use, and replace the guards if they split or become misshapen.

What size bit guards do I need?
Pony guards (V99) are 70 mm in diameter and suit ponies and smaller bit rings. Full size guards (V100) are 90 mm and suit cobs, horses and larger bit rings. Measure the diameter of your bit ring and choose the guard that sits comfortably around it without overhanging the lip.
What are V-Plast bit guards made from?

Will bit guards help if my bit is slightly too wide?

Do bit guards fit all bits?
They are designed for loose ring and similar ringed bits where the guard can be stretched over the ring. They will not fit fixed-cheek bits such as full cheek or hanging cheek designs.
How do I clean them?
Rinse after use, wipe clean and allow to dry naturally away from direct heat. Inspect regularly and replace if split, stretched or distorted.
