FAQ
What are horse balance pads used for?
They are used for in-hand balance and coordination training. Standing on a soft, supple pad asks the horse to maintain balance and body tension in a controlled manner, which supports deep muscle training and can improve body awareness.
How often should balance pads be used?
Waldhausen recommends a slow progression and no more than one to two sessions a week, because balance training is very strenuous for the horse.
Are balance pads suitable for young horses?
Yes. Young horses that are still learning to coordinate their bodies in a balanced way under the rider benefit from having the sense of balance stimulated, although sessions should be kept short and calm.
Can I use them if my horse has an injury or physical problem?
The use of balance pads should be discussed in advance with a veterinary surgeon or chiropractor if the horse has been injured or has physical problems.
How many pads are included?
They are sold as a pair, and a mesh carry bag is included. Each pad measures 30 x 25 x 5 cm.
How do I clean and store them?
Wipe the pads over after use, allow them to dry fully and keep them in the mesh carry bag so both pads stay together in the tack room.
